Two podiums in New Jersey

MILLVILLE, N.J. – After a long break, the USF2000 competitors rolled into New Jersey Motorsports Park for a tripleheader weekend. Yuven Sundaramoorthy went to the top of the timesheets in practice and translated his speed into a pole in the first qualifying session, his fourth Cooper Tires Pole Award of the season.

In race number one, Sundaramoorthy made an exemplary getaway at the rolling start, but wasn’t quite enough to prevent a fired-up Kiko Porto from making a sneaky pass. The two ran away from the field, and Sundaramoorthy continued to rack up podium finishes with a P2.

Sunday’s qualifying was a little clunkier, as Sundaramoorthy ran into some issues with traffic. In wet conditions for race number two, his P8 starting spot found him amongst some chaos. Sundaramoorthy’s front wing was clipped by a competitor and he finished P20 after a long pit stop for repairs.

With a P12 starting spot and changing weather conditions at the start of race number three, Pabst Racing was looking to try something risky. With the field starting on wet tires, Sundaramoorthy strategically pit early for dry-weather tires after the opening lap. In the short, 20-lap race, he drove his way through the field for a P3 podium finish.

Already a three-time winner this season, Sundaramoorthy is battling for second place in the Championship. The USF2000 series will finish their 2021 season with a doubleheader at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Oct 1-3.
